Plantation Cedar Wood Products Care

Cedar has it's own natural oils, since it is being used outdoors, it should be coated with a good quality product to protect the wood thus extending it's longevity. There are a wide range of penetrating oil based stains or oil base clear coats, containing pigments that are recommended for Cedar that should be applied. This will provide increased UV protection, water repellency as well as containing the added protection of mildewcydes etc.

Maintenance

To keep your cedar wood product fresh annually wash it with a recommended cleaner and let dry. If a recoat is desired, this would be the time to do it. Keep the outdoor cedar wood furniture free from pine needles, leaves, dirt buildup etc. which can impede drainage and cause surplus moisture. It is important that planters and other movable objects be moved from time to time to enable the deck to dry out.
